Having functional, high quality bowls, plates, and utensils for your little one can help ease the transition to solid food. Finding the right dishes can keep dinner from being tossed like a frisbee. And safe utensils give your baby independence and a chance to work on those motor skills!
There are two brands that I highly recommend:
Ez Pz makes sturdy combination plate/placemats out of silicone that when applied to a clean, dry surface will not budge even in the grasp of the strongest babe. They come in a variety of sizes and styles. And they are dishwasher safe!
Avanchy combines organic bamboo, stainless steel, and silicone for sustainable, well-made bowls, plates, and utensils. Currently, we use their spoons (soft silicone for those sensitive teething mouths and a sturdy wood handle). And their amazing stainless steel bowl comes with a silicone suction base, as well as, a lid to help with saving leftovers or packing lunch to go! Again a clean, dry tray and a firm push will result in a bowl firmly adhered.
If the price point of either brand bothers you, let me assure you- you will be using these items over and over and over again. They will stand the test of time. And truly- we are able to feed our little one three meals a day with one EzPz mat, one Avanchy bowl, and a set of spoons- that’s it!
Each item can continue to be used through toddlerhood. We may expand our selection as his needs develop. But we won’t have to retire the items we already have for a long time!
